Risa Reyes is an artist living and working in Baltimore Maryland. Her sculptural work utilizes a number of natural materials including taxidermy and even the artists own hair, skin, and nails. Risa’s work is incredibly nuanced, striking a balance between the beautiful and grotesque invoking memory and self preservation

Risa uses a variety of unusual materials in her sculptural and assemblage work. Taxidermy materials are acquired legally and would usually be discarded otherwise with the exception of pre made vintage mounts. The decision to use parts of her own body in her work is intentional, as is the deep longing to be remembered
